My PHR Story: I joined PHR after looking for a more local volunteering role that was completely different to anything I had done before. A news article in late 2007 sparked my interest and I got thinking about hospital radio. After enquiring, I joined as backup crew on a Thursday night.

Being a Committee member: I became the Ward Relations Officer for Phoenix in June 2009 and I enjoy the challenge of raising Phoenix’s awareness within the hospital, as well as the social side of the role of meeting the staff and patients and explaining the role of Phoenix Hospital Radio to them.

Being a Presenter: I’ve been presenting the Saturday night show with Lucy Wood for over a year now and our show is one of the many conversational topics we talk about during the week and off-air during a live show – we’re not described as Phoenix’s equivalent to ITV’s Loose Women for nothing! Our show also has patient requests that I collect on a Saturday afternoon, and I bring in features such as Name That Tune and The Big Screen Mystery.

Being Me: Outside of work and Phoenix Hospital Radio, I spend my time studying my college course, researching and writing novels and short story fiction, as well as photography and visiting my family and friends.
