My PHR Story: Always loved listening to radio and at a time when starting to think about possible careers, radio really interested me. I also always wanted to give it go myself, so joining PHR was a great thing to do because it’s the best way to get started. 2 weeks after induction on a Tuesday evening, for which I stayed for 6 months, I followed along with Ed Hardiman, to the Sunday morning lie in with Darren Kay which was the start of the time tested Bromances with the two guys. It was on this show that Darren showed me the ropes and gave me the time to polish my presenting skills. After just over 3 months I started my own show on Sunday afternoon after Darren’s, although I had to hand over the show a year later, to leave Burton for University in Nottingham to the one and only Sam Doughty, if anyone was going to fill my slot I’m glad it was Sam, after being a backup presenter on my show for a long time. I still come back from time to time as a guest on her show along with Ed and Jarred, which is always good times. Being back for the summer I currently present Tuesday evenings from 5-7 with my psychedelic sidekick Ed Hardiman.
Being a Presenter: Being a presenter is awesome, you have complete control over your show (within reason) I usually like to subject the listeners to my long standing tag line of “Great Music, Witty banter and Usual Antics” basically the best in Indie, Alternative, Classic Rock and Other tunes that pop up, including listener requests. I also like to provide banter/improvisational hilarity on what’s going on in the world usually with Ed or Darren Freeman as I hand over to his Tuesday night show.
Being Me: These days I spend most of my time in various locations around Nottingham, at the glorious Nottingham Trent University (much better that the University of Nottingham, despite what the Uni league tables say) going to gigs, festivals, listening to music, playing a ridiculous amount of time playing Fifa on PlayStation 3 and using my student loans money to fund my second careers as an alcoholic beverage connoisseur. I also live with the ups and downs of life as a diehard Arsenal fan. . . I failed my driving test 6 times before passing 7th time lucky. . . that’s just about all you need to know.
